TetraGold® is a bioactivated phytocomplex derived from the green microalga Tetraselmis suecica, developed through an innovative two-step biotechnological process to support skin hydration, sebum balance and barrier function.

Through enzymatic hydrolysis, bioactive molecules such as sugars, carotenoids and polyphenols are released from the nutrient-dense microalga. The extract is then fermented with the probiotic yeast Saccharomyces boulardii, enriching it with postbiotic metabolites and improving bioavailability, resulting in a multifunctional active for modern skincare, haircare and clean beauty formulations.

The Tetraselmis biomass comes from a dedicated farming unit in Liguria, Italy. The cultivation sequesters CO2 and the production process is designed to be zero waste.

Saccharomyces boulardii is a probiotic yeast with a well-studied metabolome. Fermenting the hydrolysed microalgae extract with this yeast enriches it with postbiotic metabolites and improves the bioavailability and effectiveness of the active substances.

Tetraselmis suecica is a unicellular green microalga. It is rich in pigments such as chlorophylls and carotenoids, fatty acids, vitamins, minerals and sugars, and it contains high levels of mannitol, proteins and starches.

The INCI name is Saccharomyces ferment filtrate, Tetraselmis suecica extract, 1,2-Hexanediol. TetraGold® is a water-soluble liquid with a gold to yellow colour.

In the hyaluronidase assay, TetraGold® at 2.5% preserved 57% of hyaluronic acid from degradation. The test compared TetraGold® at three concentrations with resveratrol, gallic acid and vitamin C.

Twenty men and women aged 18 to 60 applied a 5% TetraGold® solution to the face twice a day for 28 days. Sebum was measured with a Sebumeter before use and after 14 and 28 days.

Yes. At 5%, TetraGold® reduced free radicals by 50% in the DPPH test and by 58% in the TEAC test, compared with the reference antioxidant Trolox.

TetraGold® stimulated hyaluronic acid production in human fibroblasts by 17% at 2% in vitro. At 2.5% it also preserved 57% of hyaluronic acid from degradation by the enzyme hyaluronidase, supporting hydration and a plumping effect.

In vivo, 20 volunteers applied a 5% TetraGold® solution twice daily. Skin sebum decreased by 16% after 14 days and by 21% after 28 days, a statistically significant reduction.
